Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA)
The Family Medical Leave Act of 1993 states that covered employers must grant family - and temporary medical - leave to employees under certain specific circumstances. Eligible employees may take up to a total of 12 work-weeks of unpaid leave during a given 12-month period for one (or more) of the reasons listed below:
